You will have a thorough consultation with your practitioner before undergoing any treatment. This allows you to decide whether the treatment is right for you with the advice of a skincare professional. WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY APPOINTMENT?

We will carry out a full consultation and take your medical history. This is our opportunity to make sure that the treatments we recommend are suitable, and your opportunity to tell us about what your skin goals are. We will talk to you about all options, and make sure you are completely comfortable before going ahead.
We will explain how the different treatments work, how they feel on your skin, how your skin may look immediately after treatment and the days following along with the all important aftercare and post-treatment advice, which includes your at home skin regime.
We have a duty of care to ensure you are fully informed before undergoing any treatment. Once you’re happy (and we’re happy) we will make you comfortable and commence your treatment, talking you through it step-by-step. Need some more time to think? No problem at all, take your time. We’ll send you all the relevant information so that you can come back to us when you’re ready.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY TREATMENT?

Although our aim is healthy, unified, even skin tone, the Cosmelan® treatment carries some minimal downtime, so you can expect to red immediately afterwards, and the skin may appear pink with sunburnt like appearance. It is important to fully understand that advanced skin treatments are often stimulating so some mild, temporary reactions are expected and will be discussed during your consultation along with the all important aftercare to support and nurture the skin.

By following the post-care advice the after effects are mild-to-moderate and most of our clients are able to return to their normal activities (with some exceptions) following their treatment.

You ‘may’ experience:

Skin redness and flushing.
Tightness, itching and tenderness.
Erythema (visible redness & heat in the skin).
Peeling/Flaking of the skin.
Sensitivity.

Avoid the following:

Strenuous exercise & activities that may cause excessive perspiration.
Extreme temperatures such as intense sunlight, hot baths or showers.
Using a sunbed, spa, sauna or swimming pool.
Sources of heat.
Drinking alcohol.
Picking the skin.
Using other facial products outside of the ones recommended by your practitioner.
Additional facial treatments until instructed by your practitioner.

We also recommend:

Following ALL the aftercare advice provided by your practitioner.
Only using the aftercare products recommended by your practitioner.
Applying sunscreen every 2 hours.
Not having this treatment within 8 weeks of a special event, so that any potential flaking/peeling/redness can subside.
